Help New Mexico (HELPNM) was established in 1965 by the interdenominational New Mexico Council of Churches with the mission to support education within their community. Over the decades, HELPNM has developed a strong legacy and continues to make a significant impact in the region. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • completion or willingness to complete a 45-hour early childhood course within 6 months
  • at least 1 year experience working with young children
  • First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain
  • Food Handler's Certification or willingness to obtain
  • health determination and TB skin test
  • fingerprint background check
  • bilingual skills preferred
  • maintain current New Mexico driver’s license and proof of insurance preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 45-hour course in early childhood or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment
  • minimum of 1-year experience working with young children in an early childhood setting, babysitting, or public-school setting at a grade level no higher than elementary school
  • First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment
  • Food Handler's Certification or willing to obtain within the first 6 months
  • health determination, TB skin test, and fingerprint background check prior to employment
  • bilingual ability in Spanish and English is preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervise and monitor the safety of children in care
  • organize mealtimes and snacks for children
  • develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime
  • provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore and use in learning and imaginative play
  • facilitate children in problem-solving
