Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment
- direct deposit and Social Security card required
- satisfactory completion of employment verification (E-Verify)
- current health assessment demonstrating good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable diseases, and immunizations, including annual influenza vaccination
- willingness to work irregular hours, evenings, and weekends
- ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand regularly
- legal obligation to report all suspected child abuse or neglect
- availability to travel to on and off post locations
- satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks including Child Care Tier 1 background investigation
- meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements
- successful completion of annual or transition training and demonstrated on-the-job competence
- able and willing to work between 0600-2000 hours on weekdays, nights, weekends, and special events as needed
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to child and youth development
- ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- willingness to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and special events
- ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
- completion of required background and health assessments
- compliance with Army and Department of Defense policies
- demonstrates competence in administering medications, CPR and first aid when trained
Job Duties
- Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant in a Child and Youth Services program and maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth
- plans, coordinates, and conducts activities that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs for program participants based on the group and individual children and youth
- establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth, and adults
- helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules and provides program options for children with special requirements
- maintains program participation data and completes daily report
