Job Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks including Child Care Tier 1 investigation
- Completion of favorable pre-employment physical including ability to meet physical lifting requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain current immunizations including annual influenza vaccination
- Completion of assigned training including Food Handlers certification within specified timeframe
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Must be able to provide REAL ID or authorized combination of identity documents for installation access
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
- Successful completion of employment verification check
- Ability to meet any probationary period requirements
- Adherence to non-payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs
- Compliance with all qualification and eligibility requirements

Job Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
- For entry level, no previous experience required
- For intermediate level, six months experience working in a group program for children or youth
- Completion of three Air Force training modules or equivalent and Air Force Orientation Training Program
- For target level, 18 months experience in childcare or youth program
- Completion of DoD-approved competency training courses
- Possession and maintenance of child development associate credential, military school age credential, or another nationally recognized youth development credential
- Associate degree with 24 credit hours related to assigned age group from accredited institution
- Bachelor’s degree or 120 semester hours with major course content related to early childhood or youth development
- Ability to participate in program evaluations and conferences with parents and staff
- Knowledge of child guidance and youth development techniques
Job Duties
- Serve as a Child and Youth Program Assistant accountable for the safety and whereabouts of children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years
- Help establish a positive program environment and promote positive interactions among children, youth, and adults
- Prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials
- Interact professionally with staff, parents, supervisors, and volunteers
- Supervise children and youth during daily activities, field trips, outings, and special events
- Promote and model safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices
- Care for special needs children and youth as directed by supervisors
- Report health, fire, and safety compliance concerns to supervisors
- Arrange for and serve appropriate snacks and meals
- Observe participants for signs of illness, abuse, or neglect and report as directed
- Note special instructions from parents
- Ensure children and youth depart with authorized persons per parental instructions
- Assist in achieving and maintaining DoD certification and national accreditation
- Ensure compliance with Air Force Child and Youth Program policies and regulations
- Assist in providing and leading planned activities at entry level
- Assist children and youth with special projects, homework, and life skills
- Perform routine tasks following step-by-step instructions
- Use prepared curriculum materials and help develop supply lists
- Create adult-made games and play materials
- Attend to physical needs of children
- Maintain program participation data and complete daily reports
- Participate in program evaluations
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and conducting activities at intermediate level
- Participate in conferences with parents and staff
- Review and implement daily schedules and activity plans for age appropriateness
- Inventory equipment and recommend supply replenishments
- Secure supplies, equipment, and facilities
- Collect and report program participation data
- Implement activities and special events at target level
- Prepare and implement program options for children with special requirements
- Develop and implement schedules and plans
- Demonstrate, instruct, lead, and facilitate activities
- Brief other employees and parents
- Provide care, supervision, oversight, and accountability in compliance with policies and standards
