Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience in a steward or similar role in a restaurant
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication and leadership skills
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience as a steward or in a similar role in a restaurant environment
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to kitchen and dishwashing operations
- Ability to supervise and train staff effectively
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to operate dishwashing machines and maintain kitchen equipment
- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and ordering processes
Job Duties
- Be a leader in the restaurant and a resource for answers
- Supervise porters to complete daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and assist as necessary
- Place daily orders according to order sheet or direction from Chef and/or Sous Chefs
- Organize and store deliveries, ensuring invoices and prices are correct and product is stored at correct temperatures
- Ensure trash area is kept clean, trash is put out and bins returned, and bins cleaned according to schedule
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of walk-ins and prep-kitchen fridges and freezers
- Supervise preventative maintenance of kitchen equipment and facility and call vendors as needed to perform service
- Ensure porters and dish station operate according to Department of Health codes
- Maintain a clean work environment at all times
- Know the proper method for using the dishwashing machine
- Offer suggestions for improvement to management
- Train new staff, especially dishwashers, as needed
- Ask for help when needed
