Stanford Sierra Camp & Conference Center, commonly referred to as SSC, stands as a premier full-service conference center and alumni family camp. Located near the entrance of the renowned Desolation Wilderness at Fallen Leaf Lake in South Lake Tahoe, California, SSC efficiently accommodates up to 300 guests and employs a dedicated staff of 95 members. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum seven years of relevant administrative and financial management experience
- Senior leadership experience preferred in camp or related hospitality environment
- Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial Class C Driver’s License
- Ability to live on-site during summer season from early June to mid-September
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills
- Strong financial planning and analytical abilities
- Ability to travel to Stanford University up to four times a year
- Maintain active EMT-B certification and CA Water License T-2 preferred
- Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Seven years of relevant experience in administrative and financial management
- Senior leadership experience preferably in camp, hospitality, or educational settings
- Strong leadership, planning, and change management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to influence, solve problems, and resolve conflicts with de-escalation techniques
- Expertise in budget planning and financial forecasting
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements
Job Duties
- Provide overall strategic leadership for Stanford Sierra Camp
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and fiscal management to ensure camp viability
- Design and implement operational procedures and personnel structures
- Manage recruitment, hiring, and employee relations for all staff
- Lead team development, coaching, and performance management
- Oversee summer and conference program management ensuring high guest satisfaction
- Manage food service operations alongside Food Services Director
- Maintain positive guest services and alumni relations
- Ensure facility safety and compliance including emergency response coordination
- Oversee water system management and regulatory compliance
- Travel to Stanford University for board and leadership meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
