The Harold and Elaine Shames Jewish Community Center (JCC) on the Hudson, located at 371 S Broadway, Tarrytown, NY, is a vibrant community hub serving the Westchester Rivertowns. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher preferred
- 8+ years of experience in operations or facility management
- 3-5 years in senior leadership roles
- Experience with multi-use facility operations
- Proven IT and systems management experience
- Strong project management ability
- Excellent leadership and team development skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Commitment to JCC’s mission and values
- Experience in nonprofit or membership-based organizations preferred
- Familiarity with CRM and membership platforms preferred
- Experience with capital projects preferred
Job Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in operations, facilities management, or related roles
- at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership or director-level position
- Experience overseeing multi-use facilities such as community centers, fitness/health clubs, schools, or camps
- Demonstrated success managing IT and systems implementation or working closely with IT partners
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proven experience leading teams including hiring, coaching, performance management, and culture-building
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, member-focused environment including evenings and weekends
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
- Experience in nonprofit, membership-based, or JCC/Jewish communal organizations preferred
- Familiarity with membership management, registration, or CRM platforms preferred
- Experience with capital projects, renovations, or campus expansion preferred
Job Duties
- Serve as the chief architect of day-to-day operations, ensuring the JCC runs efficiently, reliably, and member-centrically
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational policies and workflows across the organization
- Partner with program and departmental leaders to ensure operational support aligns with program and member needs
- Oversee all aspects of building operations including maintenance, custodial services, mechanical systems, and capital improvements
- Ensure facilities are safe, clean, welcoming, and fully functional
- Oversee relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance plans and capital replacement schedules
- Partner with the CEO on facility-related planning for expansions, renovations, and major projects
- Oversee the JCC's information technology infrastructure including hardware, software, network, Wi-Fi, and cybersecurity
- Ensure reliable, secure, user-friendly systems for staff and members
- Manage relationships with external IT providers and consultants
- Support staff adoption and effective use of technology
- Oversee front desk, membership operations, and other key member-facing touchpoints
- Ensure excellent customer service, efficient check-in, registration, billing, and communication processes
- Oversee Director of Security and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Develop and update emergency procedures, safety protocols, and incident reporting systems
- Oversee kitchen functioning, equipment, and Health Department licensing
- Manage relationships with concessionaires, caterers, and food service providers
- Partner with CEO and finance team to develop, manage, and monitor operational and capital budgets
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency, and revenue enhancement
- Participate in contract negotiations and ensure effective contract management
- Lead, mentor, and develop staff and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service
- Model JCC’s values of inclusion, respect, and community
