Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum two years experience in quantity food preparation and management
- ability to supervise and train staff and volunteers
- knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food service
- physical ability to perform kitchen tasks including lifting and standing for long periods
- ability to work flexible hours as needed
- valid food handler certification or willingness to obtain

Job Duties
- Plans menus with consideration for food and menu preferences including ethnic and cultural palates
- trains and supervises assistant chefs and other food service workers and volunteers
- estimates food requirements and requisitions for food and supplies
- prepares cooks and serves a wide variety of foodstuffs for quantity food service
- cuts carves and cooks meats bakes breads cakes and pastries peels and prepares vegetables and makes salads
- places food in serving containers and serves food
- maintains proper temperature rotation and storage of food
- directs and assists in the cleaning of the kitchen and kitchen equipment after each meal
- oversees that the kitchen and equipment are kept clean sanitary and in proper working condition
- schedules regular maintenance of kitchen equipment as needed
- maintains standards of safety and sanitation in kitchen area
- keeps records and prepares reports as required
- performs other duties as assigned
