Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • two years experience as a cook preparing full course meals in a facility serving at least 50 servings per meal
  • six months supervisory experience
  • valid California Class C driver's license
  • valid California Food Handler Certificate
  • negative tuberculosis test
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • physical ability to work in varying kitchen conditions
  • compliance with safety and sanitation standards
  • available for full-time, regular employment in Fremont, CA

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum two years experience as a cook preparing full course meals in a large quantity setting
  • at least six months supervisory experience
  • knowledge of dietary needs of older adults
  • experience with food purchasing within budget
  • basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel desirable
  • effective communication and organizational skills
  • ability to train and supervise staff and volunteers

Job Duties

  • Plan menus considering dietary needs and cultural preferences
  • train and supervise assistant chefs and food service workers
  • estimate food requirements and requisition supplies
  • prepare, cook and serve large quantity meals
  • maintain proper food storage, temperature and sanitation
  • oversee kitchen cleaning and maintenance
  • keep records and prepare necessary reports
