Job Qualifications

  • One year of chef or cooking experience
  • Experience in a behavioral health or treatment center preferred
  • Food Handler's Certification (ServeSafe) preferred or willing to obtain upon hire
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification and TB/Health Screen within 60 days of employment or willing to obtain upon hire
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience in MS Office or Google Suite preferred
  • Coursework in psychology, addiction studies, or social work preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and insurable

Job Duties

  • Preparing all meals including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner for clients
  • Prepping meals to be prepared or reheated by program staff during days off
  • Collaborating with supervisor to create weekly menus adapting to food allergies and preferences
  • Creating shopping lists and managing supply purchases
  • Conducting grocery shopping weekly and as needed
  • Adhering to budget guidelines in line with census
  • Overseeing refrigerator, freezer, and pantry inventory spreadsheets
  • Ensuring safe food standards including sanitation, food and refrigerator temperatures, food handling, and proper food storage and labeling
  • Maintaining a clean kitchen environment including bussing, washing dishes, and cleaning equipment
  • Ensuring kitchen safety by adhering to facility sharps protocols
  • Communicating unsafe conditions and defective equipment to appropriate personnel
  • Providing food for holidays and special events
  • Performing other duties as assigned
