Job Requirements

  • Previous work experience as a chef or line cook
  • high school diploma or GED
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • availability to travel up to 100% of the time
  • ability to work in fast-paced and physically demanding environments
  • compliance with pre-employment background check including criminal history and drug screening
  • willingness to adhere to Amtrak’s safety and security policies

Job Qualifications

  • Previous work experience as a chef or line cook in a restaurant setting
  • high school diploma or GED
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • knowledge of FDA sanitation regulations
  • experience with food preparation and plating techniques

Job Duties

  • Prepare full-course meals for Amtrak passengers
  • assist with loading, unloading, and handling of food and service products
  • cook and plate menu items freshly on dining cars
  • maintain pantry supplies and food prep areas
  • wash utensils, pots, and pans in compliance with sanitation standards
  • keep the lower level of the dining car clean
  • complete all endpoint duties associated with meal service
