Job Requirements

  • Previous work experience in a restaurant as a chef or line cook
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work up to 100% travel
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check, criminal history check, and drug screening
  • Must comply with DOT regulations for safety-sensitive functions
  • Must be willing to work within Amtrak’s safety and security policies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and mobile kitchen environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare full-course meals for passengers
  • Assist with all phases of meal preparation
  • Wash all kitchen utensils, pots, and pans in compliance with FDA sanitation regulations
  • Load, unload, verify, handle, and store food and service products
  • Maintain cleanliness of the entire lower level of the dining car
  • Coordinate with servers to provide menu items promptly
  • Complete all end-point kitchen duties
