Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous work experience in a restaurant as a Chef/Line Cook
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 100%
  • Must pass pre-employment background check including employment verification and criminal history check
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening in compliance with DOT regulations
  • Willingness to comply with safety-sensitive duties regulations
  • Ability to perform physical kitchen duties
  • Must comply with Amtrak’s drug-free workplace policies

Job Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in a restaurant as a Chef/Line Cook
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and mobile environment
  • Knowledge of FDA sanitation regulations and food safety standards
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare full-course meals for Amtrak passengers
  • Assist with all phases of meal preparations
  • Wash all items used in the preparation of meals in compliance with FDA sanitation regulations and standards
  • Complete all end-point duties
  • Assist with loading, unloading, verification, handling and storage of all food and service products
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and lower level of the dining car
  • Provide necessary supplies and items on the current menu to servers
