Jefferson Washington Township Hospital, located in Sewell, NJ, partners with Aramark Healthcare+ to provide exceptional culinary management services. The Chef Manager position at this hospital plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality culinary solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs and tastes of patients, retail customers, and catering clients. This full-time role involves managing production across multiple points of service, including patient meals, retail outlets, and special catering events.

The Chef Manager oversees culinary operations ensuring that food production, presentation, and service meet stringent standards. Responsibilities include applying advanced culinary techniques in food preparation, managing the final presentation, and ensuring excellent service quality. The role also entails training and supervising kitchen staff, coordinating culinary activities, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Critical to the position is the ability to estimate food consumption accurately, manage food requisitions and purchases, and standardize recipes to guarantee consistent taste and quality. The Chef Manager develops and prices menus, sets presentation standards, and ensures the proper operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment. The position may also involve providing culinary instruction and demonstrations to enhance team skills and improve kitchen operations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Culinary management experience of 2 to 3 years
  • Leadership skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of Serv Safe certification or HACCP
  • Ability to work in a healthcare environment
  • Experience with production systems preferred

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2 to 3 years of culinary management experience
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Culinary arts degree desired
  • Serv Safe certification or HACCP knowledge required
  • Experience with production systems preferred

Job Duties

  • Manages production for 3 points of service: patients, retail and catering
  • Train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise/coordinate all related culinary activities
  • Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food
  • Select and develop recipes as well as standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
  • Establish presentation technique and quality standards, and plan and price menus
  • Ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance and ensure proper safety and sanitation in kitchen
  • Oversee special catering events and may also offer culinary instruction and/or demonstrates culinary techniques
