Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years pastry arts/baking experience
  • minimum of 2 years culinary teaching experience
  • general knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • ability to pass a CORI background check
  • willingness to follow CSCA policies and procedures
  • ability to lift 25 pounds
  • ability to stand, kneel, sit, and walk for extended periods
  • availability for part-time, per diem work
  • ability to handle heavy kitchen equipment and furniture
  • willingness to wear CSCA approved uniform
  • flexibility to work varying class schedules

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years pastry arts/baking experience at a restaurant, bakery, catering company, or similar culinary environment
  • minimum of 2 years culinary teaching experience
  • general knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • diplomatic, patient, creative, flexible, fun, and able to manage and mentor individuals with different levels of cooking experience
  • willingness to follow CSCA policies, procedures, and educational philosophy
  • ability to pass a CORI background check

Job Duties

  • Managing class size of up to 15 students
  • lecturing on class material and supplementing with PowerPoint presentations
  • assigning daily recipes to class and managing class production
  • maintaining order in kitchen and managing setup and breakdown of class
  • assessing students’ recipes for taste, doneness, creativity, presentation, and ability to follow directions
  • issuing, grading, and evaluating quizzes
  • reporting lab and quiz grades to Director of Education
  • delivering verbal assessments of student skill levels daily and at midterm
  • taking daily attendance and reporting to Academic Supervisor/Director of Education
  • attending quarterly faculty meetings
  • proctoring midterm and final practicums and exams
  • tutoring at-risk students
  • supervising students during ingredient check-in, pantry stocking, ingredient box packing, kitchen cleanup, and sanitation
  • performing setup of kitchen and lecture space before class
  • maintaining safety and cleanliness standards
  • ensuring food is cooked and served under sanitary conditions
  • multi-tasking and supervising all kitchen activities
  • organizing kitchen and ensuring it is left in proper condition for cleaning crew
