Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • knowledge of therapeutic diets and food allergies
  • ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
  • ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • capability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • strong attention to food safety and hygiene
  • availability for day shifts Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • culinary training or certification preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen, residential program, or healthcare food service setting
  • familiarity with therapeutic diets, food allergies, and proper sanitation protocols
  • ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • ability to work independently and manage multiple food preparation tasks under time constraints
  • compassionate and professional demeanor especially in client-facing situations

Job Duties

  • Plan and prepare meals in accordance with facility menu plans and dietary guidelines
  • follow therapeutic and individualized meal plans in collaboration with the Dietitian
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, food storage, and service areas in accordance with health department standards
  • accommodate client dietary restrictions and allergies while maintaining nutritional integrity
  • support meal service and food supervision in a timely, structured manner
  • receive and organize food deliveries
  • manage kitchen inventory and food rotation
  • adhere to food safety protocols including temperature checks, handwashing, and allergen awareness
  • engage with clients respectfully during mealtimes and support positive eating experiences
  • participate in staff meetings and trainings related to food safety and trauma-informed nutrition
  • report any concerns regarding food intake, behaviors, or kitchen safety to the appropriate supervisor
