Job Requirements
- Responsible for preparing a variety of menu items from scratch including soups, roasts, casseroles, sauces, vegetables, salads, sandwiches, and bakery items
- Use scratch cooking and baking techniques such as roasting, sauteing, grilling, steaming, proofing, and baking
- Participate in researching and testing menu items fitting a wellness profile
- Practice safe food handling and ergonomic safety techniques
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area including walk-in coolers and food preparation areas
- Perform sanitation tasks including sweeping, washing, and polishing
- Maintain accurate labeling, date marking, and temperature records to ensure food safety
- Operate and clean equipment following safety guidelines and use PPE
- Support menu management processes including recipe adherence, ordering, portion control, monitoring HACCP logs, inventory management, and assessing leftovers
- Communicate effectively with customers and staff
- Adjust work tasks and locations as business needs change
- Complete required testing successfully
Job Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of three years of quantity restaurant or corporate dining experience
- Preferred upscale culinary experience
- Ability to interpret written instructions for quality, volume, and presentation
- Knowledge of food safety production, receiving, and storage practices
- Strong personal initiative and motivation
- Commitment to teamwork and customer service
- Dedication to continued culinary growth
- Ability to perform essential physical job requirements
Job Duties
- Prepare a variety of menu items including soups, roasts, casseroles, sauces, vegetables, salads, sandwiches, and bakery items using scratch cooking and baking techniques
- Practice safe food handling and personal safety techniques while maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Operate and clean kitchen equipment following established safety guidelines
- Support menu management by following recipes, providing feedback, managing inventory and portions, and monitoring HACCP logs
- Communicate effectively with customers and servers about menu items and preparation methods
- Deliver on restaurant hospitality standards with a customer-focused approach
- Cover responsibilities of the Chef Team Leader when absent to ensure continuous service and food preparation
