Job Requirements

  • responsible for preparing a variety of menu items from scratch for cafeteria and catering services
  • use scratch cooking and baking techniques including roasting, saut=ing, grilling, steaming, proofing, and baking
  • participate in researching and testing menu items that fit a wellness profile
  • practice safe food handling and ergonomic techniques
  • maintain cleanliness and safety standards in all work areas
  • maintain accurate labeling, date marking, and temperature records
  • operate and clean equipment following safety guidelines
  • support menu management including ordering, portion control, inventory, and record keeping
  • deliver on restaurant hospitality standards
  • communicate with customers and servers
  • cover Chef Team Leader responsibilities when needed
  • adjust work assignments based on business needs

Job Qualifications

  • associate degree or equivalent work experience with a minimum of three years of quantity restaurant or corporate dining experience
  • upscale culinary experience preferred
  • ability to interpret written instructions to ensure quality, volume, and presentation of foods
  • knowledge of food safety production, receiving, and storage practices
  • high degree of personal initiative and motivation
  • strong commitment to customer service and positive customer interaction
  • dedication to continued culinary growth
  • ability to perform essential physical job requirements

Job Duties

  • prepare a variety of menu items including soups, roasts, casseroles, sauces, vegetables, salads, sandwiches, and bakery items using scratch cooking and baking techniques
  • practice safe food handling techniques and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • support the menu management process by following recipes, providing feedback for improvements, and monitoring inventory and usage
  • communicate effectively with customers and servers regarding menu and food preparation
  • cover responsibilities of the Chef Team Leader in their absence
  • adjust work locations and tasks as needed based on business demands
