Job Requirements

  • Prepare a variety of menu items from scratch using specific cooking and baking techniques
  • Follow safe food handling and ergonomic practices
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces including food prep and storage areas
  • Perform sanitation duties such as sweeping and washing
  • Keep accurate labeling and date marking for freshness
  • Maintain time and temperature records for food safety
  • Operate and clean equipment using appropriate PPE
  • Follow menu management procedures including recipe adherence, ordering, portion control, documentation, and inventory
  • Communicate regularly with customers and team members
  • Assume Chef Team Leader responsibilities in their absence
  • Adapt to changing work demands and business needs
  • Complete and pass any required employment testing

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience with a minimum of three years in quantity restaurant or corporate dining
  • Upscale culinary experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret written instructions for quality, volume, and presentation of foods
  • Knowledge of food safety production, receiving, and storage practices
  • Strong personal initiative and motivation
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Commitment to customer service with positive interaction and anticipation of needs
  • Demonstrated dedication to continued culinary growth
  • Ability to perform essential physical requirements of the job

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of menu items from scratch including soups, roasts, casseroles, sauces, vegetables, salads, sandwiches, and bakery items using scratch cooking and baking techniques
  • Practice safe food handling, ergonomic, and personal safety techniques while maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Support the menu management process by following recipes, providing feedback, managing orders, ensuring correct portions, maintaining HACCP logs, and assessing leftovers
  • Deliver restaurant hospitality standards through effective communication with customers and servers regarding menu and preparation methods
  • Cover responsibilities of Chef Team Leader in their absence, adjusting work tasks and locations as needed based on business demands
  • Operate and clean kitchen equipment following safety protocols
  • Participate in researching and testing menu items focused on wellness and food quality improvement
