Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • German proficiency at Berlitz Level 4 (A2+)
  • Culinary school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing dishes
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Oversee and manage a specific section of the kitchen, ensuring all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standard onboard the cruise ship
  • Work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to create and execute menus
  • Train and supervise junior chefs and kitchen staff
  • Monitor and maintain food quality, portion control, and presentation standards
  • Communicate effectively in German (BL4) to understand and carry out simple instructions
  • Label food items correctly
  • Report issues to supervisors
  • Interact with team members during service
  • Ensure that all food safety and hygiene regulations are followed at all times
  • Assist with ordering and stock control to minimize waste and maintain budget
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and new techniques to continuously improve the menu and overall dining experience
