Job Requirements

  • Previous experience as a chef de partie or similar role
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements and food allergies particularly in relation to elderly residents
  • Strong understanding of food safety, health regulations, and sanitation practices
  • Ability to prepare meals efficiently under time pressure while maintaining quality and nutrition
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Caring, patient demeanor when working with elderly residents
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Culinary qualifications preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and understand policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary qualifications such as Rouxbe, NVQ, City and Guilds or equivalent are preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and understand policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook, and present meals according to dietary guidelines, special requests, and nutritional needs of residents
  • Ensure meals are flavorful, visually appealing, and safe for consumption
  • Work closely with Sous Chef and Executive Chef to accommodate specific dietary requirements
  • Assist with marinating, cutting, and precooking foods
  • Complete daily food preparation and duties assigned by Sous Chef or Executive Chef
  • Ensure adequacy of supplies at cooking stations
  • Perform cleaning duties and enforce clean as you go policy
  • Assure food is properly stored, labeled, covered, and dated
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment and food storage spaces
  • Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and dress code compliance
  • Attend in-service training and assist in training new personnel
  • Report to work as scheduled and maintain excellent attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
