Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role, ideally in healthcare or retirement community setting
  • knowledge of dietary requirements and food allergies especially for elderly residents
  • strong understanding of food safety, health regulations, and sanitation practices
  • ability to prepare meals efficiently under time pressure while maintaining quality and nutrition
  • strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks
  • excellent communication skills and a caring, patient demeanor
  • flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • culinary qualifications such as Rouxbe, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent preferred but not required
  • ability to read and understand policy and procedure documents
  • ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Job Duties

  • Prepare, cook, and present meals according to dietary guidelines, special requests, and nutritional needs
  • assist with marinating, cutting, and precooking foods
  • complete daily food preparation and duties assigned by the Sous Chef or Executive Chef
  • ensure adequacy of supplies at cooking stations
  • assure cleaning duties are performed and enforce clean as you go
  • properly store, label, cover, and date food in refrigerators and walk-ins
  • maintain personal hygiene and comply with dress code
  • attend in-service training and assist in on-the-job training for new personnel
  • report to work as scheduled with excellent attendance
  • perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
