Job Requirements

  • Culinary degree or related training equivalent in the hospitality or restaurant industry
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in similar scope and title
  • Food Safety Manager Certification preferred or to be attained within 30 days
  • Experience in luxury brand or markets preferred
  • Ability to work safely in a kitchen environment with high temperatures and humidity
  • Ability to cope with frequent changing priorities and deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a shared space with constant noise
  • Willingness to work varied schedules exceeding 40 hours per week if necessary
  • Ability to move 10lbs regularly and lift up to 50lbs weekly
  • Ability to stand, sit, and travel for long and short periods as required

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or related training equivalent in the hospitality or restaurant industry
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience in a similar scope and title
  • Experience within luxury brand or market environments preferred
  • Food Safety Manager Certification preferred or must be attained within 30 days
  • Strong strategic business leadership abilities
  • Proven ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to uphold and implement service standards
  • Skilled in prioritization, organization, and working under pressure
  • Understanding of financial data and basic arithmetic
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients and industry contacts

Job Duties

  • Maintain a file of recipes including ingredients, portions, and directions for preparation and presentation
  • Set standards and methods for portion control considering perceived value
  • Meet budgets for food, labor, and direct operating expenses related to the culinary department
  • Cost all food items and assist Food and Beverage Director with monthly reports
  • Create kitchen labor schedules meeting peak performance criteria
  • Assist with creation of seasonal, monthly, and weekly specials and menus
  • Monitor execution procedures to ensure quality, consistency, efficiency, productivity, and professionalism
  • Conduct hands-on teaching and training with Sous Chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff
  • Train and educate staff on new menu items and procedural changes, monitoring accountability
  • Hire, coach, counsel, and conduct performance evaluations for culinary staff
  • Develop, train, and mentor Sous Chefs, Supervisors, and cooks
  • Implement and maintain sanitation practices and protocols
  • Work with management on menu development, staff training, and promotional photo shoots
  • Create and monitor kitchen inventory including order inspections and item selection
