Job Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in a similar or supportive culinary role
  • degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management preferred
  • food handler certification
  • alcohol awareness certification if applicable
  • ability to coordinate and manage teams under pressure
  • ability to learn and present menu and allergy information
  • knowledge or willingness to learn financial and business metrics
  • knowledge of culinary arts and management
  • proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office
  • experience with POS and inventory software
  • flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • strong knife skills
  • passion for hospitality and teamwork

Job Qualifications

  • 2 years of previous experience in a similar or supportive role in a high-volume, full-service restaurant
  • 2 or 4-year degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management preferred
  • food handler certification
  • alcohol awareness certification if applicable
  • able to coordinate and manage a team while handling multiple priorities under tight timelines
  • able to learn, retain, and present product, menu, and allergy information
  • knowledge or ability to quickly learn financial and business metrics affecting restaurant operations
  • advanced and adaptable knowledge of culinary arts, oenology, pastry, banquet, in-room dining, and management skills preferred
  • knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, restaurant POS, inventory management, payroll, timekeeping, business and accounting software
  • flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • excellent knife skills and product knowledge
  • passion for hospitality and desire to build healthy, collaborative teams

Job Duties

  • Build menus and design corresponding recipes
  • coordinate the preparation of recipes
  • lead all kitchen employees
  • plan, assign, and direct work
  • appraise performance
  • reward and coach employees
  • address complaints and problem-solve
  • participate in service education through line-ups, menu meetings, and new staff training programs
  • track kitchen inventory and place orders
  • monitor equipment maintenance and condition
  • ensure compliance with state and federal health and safety codes
  • take on responsibilities outside the job description as needed
