Job Requirements

  • 3+ years as a sous chef or similar culinary role
  • degree in culinary arts, nutrition, dietetics, health science, or related field preferred
  • ServSafe food manager certification
  • allergen certification
  • 1+ year experience in sports-based culinary nutrition preferred
  • ability to work a non-standard work schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • strong organizational and leadership skills
  • proficiency with technology
  • ability to pass a background check

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years as a sous chef with food preparation, food safety, and customer service experience
  • degree in culinary arts, nutrition, dietetics, health science, or related field preferred
  • experience in a client-facing role with demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships
  • demonstrated success in leading and managing teams
  • ServSafe food manager certification and allergen certification
  • 1+ year of sports-based culinary nutrition experience with collegiate and/or professional athletes preferred
  • working knowledge of baseball preferred
  • excellent knowledge of kitchen equipment and good knife skills
  • experience writing client-specific menus
  • strong creativity, desire to learn, and interest in building healthy meals with lots of flavor
  • ability to develop, document, and follow recipes
  • working knowledge of culinary nutrition and adjusting recipes and menus to fit an athlete's nutritional needs
  • experience ordering and receiving food from local vendors
  • confidence working with clients who have food sensitivities and allergies
  • proficiency with technology including email, calendars, Google Suite, spreadsheets, Microsoft documents, scheduling platforms
  • ability to pass a background check
  • Spanish language fluency is a plus

Job Duties

  • Direct the food preparation for all in-season Cardinals baseball activities, including Spring Training, summer camps, and rehab needs at their player development facility
  • collaborate with the nutrition team to develop menus and recipes
  • supervise and participate in the preparation and cooking of meals that align with KitchFix and Cardinals standards
  • organize, coordinate, and prepare food daily
  • maintain oversight of all-access snack and recovery stations in the clubhouse
  • write weekly schedules based on player camps
  • order and receive food supplies
  • track and manage account budgets
  • serve a well-rounded selection of menus that feature Latin cuisine on a regular basis
  • promote and exemplify a culture that is rooted in positivity
  • oversee food safety and handling procedures within the kitchen and dining
  • oversee the cleanliness of workstations, storage areas, and kitchen
  • be an advocate of key nutrition messages and support nutrition interventions for medical need players
  • ensure proper ingredient allergen labeling
  • develop and maintain a positive rapport with players, coaches, and staff
  • uphold culinary operation best practices and standards
