- may be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment or supplies in excess of fifty pounds
- must be able to taste and smell food to determine quality and palatability
- is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B virus
Job Qualifications
- one year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or related medical facility preferred but not necessary
- knowledgeable of dietary procedures
- able to follow oral and written instructions
- able to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner
Job Duties
- prepare and serve food in accordance with current regulations and facility policies
- supervise food production and presentation
- comply with established departmental policies and governmental regulations
- review menu extensions prior to preparation
- suggest menu changes to assist Corporate Dietitian
- prepare meals including therapeutic meals
- ensure meals are palatable and appetizing
- serve food in accordance with portion control procedures
- prepare food using standardized recipes
- assure resident meal trays are correct
- use and teach proper food handling techniques
- complete daily and scheduled cleaning
- date, label, and store food properly
- assist in receiving and storing supplies
- make menu substitutions and record them
- meet scheduled times for meals and snacks
- report accidents/incidents to supervisor immediately
- report hazardous conditions to supervisor immediately
- recommend equipment and supply needs
- attend staff meetings and in-services
- supervise Dietary Department in absence of Supervisor
- perform other duties as assigned
