Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- previous work experience as a chef or line cook in a restaurant
- excellent written and oral communication skills
- ability to travel up to 100% of the time
- must pass pre-employment background check including prior employment verification and criminal history check
- must pass pre-employment drug screen as per DOT regulations
- must consent to Amtrak obtaining prior drug and alcohol testing records
- commitment to safety and adherence to company policies
- ability to work in confined spaces and handle physical demands of job
Job Qualifications
- Previous work experience in a restaurant as a chef or line cook
- high school diploma or GED
- excellent written and oral communication skills
- ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- knowledge of FDA food safety and sanitation standards
- strong teamwork and customer service skills
Job Duties
- Prepare full-course meals for Amtrak passengers
- assist with all phases of meal preparation
- wash all items used in meal preparation in compliance with FDA sanitation regulations and standards
- complete all end-point duties such as cleaning and sanitation
- assist with loading, unloading, verification, handling and storage of food and service products
- cook and plate food items according to current menu offerings
- maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and lower level of the dining car
