Job Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school certificate or higher
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a cook or related field
  • Ability to work collaboratively with dietitians and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated expertise in Asian cuisine and cooking techniques
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and texture-modified food preparation
  • Culinary degree or formal culinary training preferred
  • Experience working in PACE, skilled nursing, assisted living, or RCFE environments preferred
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification preferred
  • Must fluently speak, read and write English
  • Fluency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) preferred
  • Fluency in other languages is an asset

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare high-quality, culturally appropriate Asian cuisine that meets nutritional and therapeutic needs
  • Execute menus reflecting diverse Asian culinary traditions adapted for seniors
  • Modify textures and consistencies as ordered by dietitian or medical provider
  • Prepare meals accommodating therapeutic diets including diabetic, cardiac/low sodium, renal, and dysphagia-friendly diets
  • Ensure meals are visually appealing, flavorful, and served at appropriate temperatures
  • Work collaboratively with Registered Dietitian to implement approved menus and standardized recipes
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to support participant-centered care
  • Maintain compliance with CMS PACE, California Title 22, and local public health regulations
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, preparation, and service according to food safety standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to menus, temperature logs, and sanitation
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations ensuring efficiency, cleanliness, and consistency
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on Asian cooking techniques and safe food practices
  • Monitor food inventory, ordering, and waste management to support budget goals
  • Incorporate participant feedback into menu planning and meal service improvements
  • Support a dignified, respectful dining experience aligned with person-centered care model
