Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum two years experience as a chef in a restaurant, hospital or school system
  • ability to work day shifts
  • strong knowledge of standardized recipes and food safety regulations
  • ability to train and supervise kitchen staff
  • good organizational and multitasking skills
  • ability to maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to comply with federal, state and local health regulations
  • punctuality and reliability

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum two years experience as a chef in either a restaurant, hospital or school system preparing large quantities of food
  • catering experience preferred
  • culinary school training with certificate or A.A. degree in Culinary Arts with understanding of production, food quantities and recipe modification preferred
  • ServSafe or Food Handlers Certificate

Job Duties

  • Plan regular and modified menus according to established guidelines
  • follow standardized recipes, portioning and presentation standards
  • complete and utilize daily production worksheets and waste log sheets
  • taste completed meals to ensure quality
  • train kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, operation of equipment, food safety and sanitation based on company and regulatory standards
  • establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas
  • maintain inventory of food and non-food supplies within established guidelines
  • make decisions regarding utilization of leftover food staying within company guidelines
  • comply with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
  • participate and attend departmental meetings, staff development and professional programs
  • follow HACCP guidelines and Title 22 and JCAHO regulations for food storage, safety and sanitation
  • maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
  • be punctual and follow company policies, procedures and directives
  • interact in a positive and constructive manner
  • prioritize and multitask efficiently
