Job Requirements
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position
- Must possess sight and hearing or use prosthetics to function adequately
- Must function independently with flexibility and integrity
- Ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
- Must be in good general health and emotionally stable
- Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and hostile people
- May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies over 50 pounds
- Must be able to taste and smell food to determine quality
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B virus
Job Qualifications
- One year dietary experience in hospital, skilled nursing facility, or related medical facility preferred
- Knowledge of dietary procedures
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner
Job Duties
- Prepare and serve food in accordance with federal, state, and local standards
- Supervise food production and presentation
- Review menu extensions prior to food preparation
- Suggest menu changes to assist Corporate Dietitian
- Prepare meals including therapeutic diets according to planned menus
- Serve palatable and appetizing meals
- Adhere to established portion control procedures
- Use and teach proper food handling techniques
- Assure accuracy of resident meal trays
- Complete daily and scheduled cleaning tasks
- Date, label, and store food properly
- Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies
- Record menu substitutions on designated form
- Meet meal and snack time schedules
- Report all accidents and incidents immediately
- Report hazardous conditions promptly
- Recommend equipment and supply needs to supervisor
- Attend staff meetings and in-services
- Supervise Dietary Department in supervisor's absence
- Perform other assigned duties
