Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Maintain and use safety equipment
  • Ability to use knives and machinery containing sharp objects
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • Ability to move safely throughout back and front of house areas
  • Ability to work in environments with variable noise levels, ventilation, smoke and extreme temperatures
  • Basic English reading and writing skills
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Frequent reaching, feeling, bending, stooping and carrying
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in both warm and cool indoor and outdoor environments

Job Qualifications

  • 6 years of related culinary experience
  • 2 years of leadership experience in a head chef role
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care or related food service operations
  • Knowledge of food and industry trends focused on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls and presentation
  • ServSafe or Department of Health Manager Certification
  • ServSafe Allergen Awareness Certification preferred
  • Associate degree in culinary arts

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and participate in the preparation and cooking of various menu items
  • Lead and train a sous chef and prep team members
  • Plan and create daily menus and update standardized recipe books
  • Manage costs and control expenditures
  • Write standardized recipes in a large volume format
  • Collaborate with unit manager and catering group leader to plan and execute catering orders for corporate events
  • Ensure food quality, safety, sanitation, and presentation standards are upheld
