Job Requirements

- Must be able to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
- Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently
- Must be able to perform physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Night and weekend shifts required

Job Duties
- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience
- Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner
- Learn customers' names and address them by name whenever possible
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach products, loading/unloading heavy items, and passing along customer suggestions
- Answer telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service
- Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and pleasant work environment
- Operate cash register accurately and scan products
- Redeem promotional coupons, food stamps, WIC checks, issue rain checks, process cash, checks, credit card transactions, calculate discounts and issue receipts
- Package merchandise and assist courtesy personnel
- Address customer questions and concerns and follow-up with appropriate personnel
- Follow policies on sales of tobacco, liquor, and lottery tickets
- Ensure compliance with guidelines regarding WIC and food stamps
- Stock, face, rotate merchandise and maintain clean shelves
- Communicate clearly on intercom or telephone
- Review store ads for price changes and sales
- Keep register area clean and maintain store appearance
- Verify cash register balances
- Give cash refunds or issue credit memorandums
- Practice proper sanitation procedures
- Maintain adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines
- Report to work on time as scheduled
- Assist store management with displays and promotions
- Know code dates on perishable items
- Change register tape and ribbons
- Assist in other store areas as needed
- Perform other related duties and special projects as required
