Job Requirements

  • 2500 total flight hours with minimum of 2000 flight hours in category
  • 1000 hours PIC in category
  • 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time
  • 500 hours of cross-country flight time, at least 100 hours at night
  • 100 hours unaided night as PIC or 50 hours unaided with 100 hours NVG time
  • 75 hours actual or hood instrument time in flight and category (simulator does not count)
  • high school diploma or GED
  • three to five years related experience
  • commercial/instrument rating
  • CFI or CFII rotor wing or willingness to obtain within one year
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to implement training
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • ability to work collaboratively

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • previous instructor or check airman experience
  • recommendation from a current air methods flight instructor or check airman preferred
  • CFI or CFII (rotor wing) or willingness to obtain within one year
  • ATP rating in aircraft category preferred
  • commercial/instrument rating required
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to implement training programs
  • ability to work collaboratively with all levels
  • intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook

Job Duties

  • Evaluate operational compliance including all aspects of safety, flight operations, maintenance operations, and other procedures and policies as described in the General Operations Manual
  • initial and recurrent training (ground and flight)
  • transition, differences and ROC (restricted operations checks) ground and flight training
  • correct and report out-of-compliance issues immediately and coordinate with appropriate leadership when needed
  • assist in the development and implementation of flight and ground training schedules
  • ensure that standardized training and checking procedures are adhered to
  • assist in pilot record keeping requirements in accordance with FARs and policies
  • submit required reports in a timely manner
  • operate advanced aviation training devices and full motion simulators
  • assist in development of aircraft checklist and pilot training programs
  • assist in development and conduct of indoctrination, initial and recurrent ground and flight training, instrument and night vision goggle training
