Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • certification as a surgical technologist
  • experience preferred but willing to train new graduates
  • ability to work under supervision
  • capability to maintain sterile field and follow surgical protocols
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle surgical instruments safely
  • compliance with health and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Certified surgical technologist credential
  • knowledge of surgical instrumentation and techniques
  • ability to assist in surgical tasks such as hemostasis and suturing
  • familiarity with sterilization and infection control protocols
  • good communication and teamwork skills
  • willingness to learn and participate in performance improvement activities

Job Duties

  • Performs scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure
  • directly assists operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning
  • prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use
  • maintains knowledge of instruments and surgical techniques
  • performs instrument and needle counts
  • applies isolation techniques and terminal cleaning of surgical instruments and rooms
  • demonstrates knowledge of specific technical surgical skills
