Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- certification as a surgical technologist
- experience preferred but willing to train new graduates
- ability to work under supervision
- capability to maintain sterile field and follow surgical protocols
- physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle surgical instruments safely
- compliance with health and safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- Certified surgical technologist credential
- knowledge of surgical instrumentation and techniques
- ability to assist in surgical tasks such as hemostasis and suturing
- familiarity with sterilization and infection control protocols
- good communication and teamwork skills
- willingness to learn and participate in performance improvement activities
Job Duties
- Performs scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure
- directly assists operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning
- prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use
- maintains knowledge of instruments and surgical techniques
- performs instrument and needle counts
- applies isolation techniques and terminal cleaning of surgical instruments and rooms
- demonstrates knowledge of specific technical surgical skills
