Job Requirements
- High school education or GED
- sterile processing technician certification
- certification as Certified Board Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- ability to perform physical tasks associated with sterilization
- ability to work under supervision
- willingness to comply with vaccination requirements
- dependability and strong work ethic

Job Duties
- Decontaminates and processes instruments including compiling instrument sets counting instruments and recording counts
- sterilizes instruments trays basins with appropriate exposure and dry times
- prepares instruments for immediate use sterilization when necessary
- maintains a clean and orderly environment in the department by daily wiping of counters sinks exterior surfaces of autoclaves and high disinfection equipment
- cleans autoclave chambers on a weekly basis
- assists operating room housekeeping with room turnover terminal cleaning of operating room suites and daily duties when necessary
- assists with picking supplies and instruments for upcoming cases
- performs daily diagnostic testing on sterilizing equipment including test packs biological indicators and diagnostic cycle for endoscope processors
- evaluates instruments for function and safety when reprocessing
- provides reprocessing services for ancillary department instruments including emergency room respiratory therapy physical therapy radiology
- identifies and evaluates loaner instruments prior to processing
- records loaner information in a log for tracking
- maintains biological incubator and log evaluates for biological test results
- provides technical services and assists in operating room recovery outpatient endoscopy and central sterile as assigned and directed
- works under direct supervision of a registered nurse and reports to perioperative services manager
- performs other job related duties as assigned
