Job Requirements

  • high school graduate or equivalent
  • certification from an approved Certified Scrub School preferred
  • at least one year of relevant experience
  • ability to maintain sterile field and follow surgical protocols
  • knowledge of the principles of growth and development relevant to patient care
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work under supervision and within a team environment

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • graduation from an approved Certified Scrub School with certification preferred
  • one year of on the job experience
  • knowledge of surgical instruments and techniques
  • ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • ability to demonstrate technical surgical skills
  • willingness to participate in continuing education
  • good interpersonal and communication skills

Job Duties

  • assist physicians with surgical instrumentation
  • monitor and manage PAR levels of surgical instruments and supplies
  • clean and sterilize surgical instruments
  • participate in staff meetings and performance improvement activities
  • perform instrument and needle counts during procedures
  • ensure isolation techniques and terminal cleaning of surgical instruments and rooms
  • work under the supervision of a registered nurse
