Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to operate telephone and computer equipment including ASCOM system
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations calmly
  • Flexible to work various days, weekends, holidays and shifts
  • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two or more years of experience preferably in hospital, emergency dispatch, or call center environments
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and operate telecommunications systems
  • Ability to work under stress and defuse tense situations
  • Typing speed of 40 words per minute or higher

Job Duties

  • Answer inbound calls courteously and route to appropriate departments or individuals
  • Dispatch routine and critical clinical messages and vital patient statistics
  • Monitor and respond to alarms, codes, alerts, and drills according to hospital protocols
  • Maintain accurate on-call schedules for departments and physicians
  • Document and relay Medicall answering service information accurately
  • Input and update account notations and notify management of potential issues
  • Manage communications during disaster management and emergency situations
