Job Description

This position is within a Central Kitchen operation overseen by the Central Kitchen Operations Manager or their designee. The Central Kitchen is a critical part of a food service organization that prepares and distributes meals across various district locations, ensuring that the food meets quality, nutrition, and cost standards. Job Requirements

  • Must meet all the requirements of the Central Kitchen Assistant position
  • one year of experience in commercial or institutional quantity food preparation including supervision and communication
  • ability to operate and make minor repairs on kitchen equipment
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • strong organizational skills
  • effective communication skills
  • physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • flexibility and ability to adapt to shifting priorities
  • ability to maintain sanitation and food safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • One year of work experience in commercial or institutional quantity food preparation including supervision and training
  • knowledge of modern food preparation methods including recipe adjustment
  • knowledge of product standards including quality and sanitation
  • basic math and computer operation skills
  • skill in oral and written communication
  • ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment including complex machinery
  • ability to maintain organized files and records
  • ability to work independently and in a team
  • ability to alter recipes correctly
  • ability to establish and maintain good working relationships

Job Duties

  • Prepares and monitors the preparation of high quality meals following standardized procedures
  • maintains and troubleshoots kitchen equipment including making minor repairs
  • schedules and supervises daily work activities in food preparation areas
  • submits advance requests for food and supplies
  • collaborates with other leads to meet production needs
  • monitors sanitation methods and maintains HACCP records
  • maintains recipe files and food production calendar
  • supervises and assists employees in meal preparation
  • conducts on-the-job training
  • promotes Nutrition Services to increase meal participation
  • may act as the Food Services Coordinator when necessary
