Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or general equivalency diploma
  • up to one year experience working with children and adults or experience in food preparation, or experience working in an office or custodial work
  • initial and periodic physical exams required
  • must submit to initial and/or periodic state and/or federal criminal checks
  • must submit to initial and periodic drug and alcohol testing

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or general equivalency diploma
  • up to one year experience working with children and adults or experience in food preparation, or experience working in an office or custodial work
  • basic knowledge of early childhood education and program operations
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • proficiency in basic office tasks including typing and filing
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • willingness to undergo required physical exams and background checks

Job Duties

  • organize, sanitize and store classroom equipment and supplies
  • assist in coordinating and implementing lesson plans and classroom and recreational activities
  • assist with home visits
  • assist with record keeping duties and preparing and maintaining program materials
  • assist in enforcing self-care activities and enforcing safety rules and procedures
  • set up and take down classroom and lunch equipment
  • maintain accurate meal count
  • prepare meals and snacks
  • pick up catered lunches
  • monitor food temperature
  • smell and taste food before serving
  • distribute meals and snacks to individual classrooms
  • restock groceries and supplies
  • arrange tables and classroom equipment
  • clean and sanitize toys
  • serve as receptionist to receive visitors
  • answer phone calls and provide information regarding family development programs and other community services
  • provide secretarial services such as typing/word processing, filing and copying
  • develop flyers, memos and banners
  • provide courier service to county locations, central office and requested destinations
  • collect, process, and distribute postal and inter-program mail
