Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years work experience in event management marketing retail customer service recreation or related role
  • Preferably experience in nonprofit military multicultural or global organizations
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to use computers and various software programs including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle confidential information
  • Demonstrated initiative self-motivation and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Basic math skills and ability to follow cash handling and reporting procedures
  • Willingness to work flexible or non-standard hours
  • Knowledge of military community preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security credentials and driving qualifications
  • Strong commitment to USO mission and values

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in event management marketing retail customer service recreation or related field
  • Experience in nonprofit military multicultural or global organizations preferred
  • Strong interpersonal customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with computers and electronics including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of volunteer management software and social media platforms preferred
  • Demonstrated sound judgment handling confidential and culturally sensitive information
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and initiative
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Basic math and cash donation handling and reporting skills
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours
  • General knowledge of the military community preferred
  • Ability to obtain necessary credentials including security and driving clearances
  • Must strongly advocate for the USO mission

Job Duties

  • Execute day-to-day Center operational procedures ensuring a cost-effective safe welcoming and clean environment
  • Monitor and maintain facilities and equipment for readiness and compliance with sanitary and food-handling guidelines
  • Engage and interact with Center visitors serving as a subject matter expert and troubleshoot issues
  • Manage vendors as needed
  • Help maintain Center operations within budget including inventory management cash handling and reporting
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for local operations and activities
  • Plan oversee and lead execution of operational areas including programs logistics inventory budget social media and database management
  • Assist with operations and programs communications including preparing content for social media local media and website publications
  • Deliver or assist in managing planning and evaluation of USO programs activities and events on and off military installations
  • Assist in reviewing programs and service needs recommending new offerings and implementing changes
  • Develop and maintain relationships with military community local leaders partners donors and media to support mission and program delivery
  • Coordinate resources including volunteers materials and supplies for all programs events and activities
  • Communicate with volunteers regarding shifts policy changes and development opportunities
  • Maintain volunteer database and reports
  • Direct prospective volunteers through application and training processes
  • Implement volunteer recognition events and communicate improvement suggestions
  • May operate USO or personal motor vehicle when required
  • Perform other duties including backfilling for leadership as directed
