Crying Tiger is an exciting new restaurant set to open later this year in Chicago's vibrant River North neighborhood. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a bar prep or similar role preferred
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced bar preparation methods such as sous vide, immersion blender, and juicers
  • Familiarity with cocktail recipe reading and inventory management
  • Knowledge of food allergy procedures and special order handling
  • Ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment safely
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Commitment to maintaining high food safety and quality standards

Job Duties

  • Prepare basic and advanced ingredients, syrups, mixes, batches and garnishes for cocktail menu items according to recipes and/or special requests efficiently and effectively ensuring minimum waste
  • Effectively and efficiently use advanced bar preparation methods, including but not limited to sous vide and automatic mixers, immersion blender, centrifugal juicer and hydraulic juice press
  • Anticipate and calculate future syrup needs and communicate with the chefs and management teams regarding ordering ingredients for syrups
  • Ensure cocktails are transferred to kegs for proper storage
  • Read and follow recipes to ensure consistent production, and organize and maintain library of digital and hard copy cocktail and garnish recipes
  • Organize, maintain, rotate and restock inventory of cocktail liquors, ingredients, syrups, mixes, batches and garnishes in proper cabinets, coolers or storage areas
  • Ensure proper product rotation, utilization and inventory to ensure minimum waste
  • Safely tolerate hands being exposed to liquids frequently, including water, cleaning solutions, alcohol, various juices and other liquids
  • Maintain food safety and quality standards
  • Correctly and efficiently read a thermometer
  • Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
  • Work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
  • Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment, including knives and juicers
  • Effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
  • Multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
  • Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
  • Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Get along well with others and be a team player
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed
