Job Requirements
- Willing and able to travel 3-4 months continuously within assigned regions
- Physical capability to perform demanding activities including crawling, climbing, squatting, and lifting heavy objects
- Compliance with all company safety policies and use of personal protective equipment
- Ability to operate specialized rail-bound vehicles and equipment safely in various weather conditions
- Capability to perform vehicle maintenance, inspection, and repair
- Clear verbal communication and ability to use walkie-talkies and intercoms
- Valid CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement
Job Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement
- Excellent communication skills verbal and written
- Ability to perform basic mechanical tasks such as changing a tire and replacing a battery
- Ability to lift and carry up to 85 lbs and occasionally assist with objects over 100 lbs
- Ability to squat, kneel, and crawl under an 18-inch clearance for extended periods
- Minimum of 2 years commercial driving experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Job Duties
- Operate test vehicle/detector car on and off railroad tracks and in various road conditions
- Perform vehicle inspections and equipment set-up
- Record and interpret data on computer monitors
- Service, maintain, and repair vehicle and detector carriage including crawling under vehicle and working in awkward postures
- Climb steps and ladders to enter and exit vehicle repeatedly
- Perform ground inspection of rails using hand test units
- Communicate clearly and effectively with pilot, crew members, and railroad personnel to ensure safety and proper operational coordination
