Job Requirements
- Willing and able to travel 3-4 months at a time within eastern or western regions
- meet physical demands including crawling, squatting, climbing
- wear mandatory personal protective equipment
- trained in Road Worker Safety annually
- comply with all DOT driving regulations
- able to operate and maintain rail-bound test vehicles
- maintain visual and auditory ability for safe operations
- be safety conscious and detail oriented
Job Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A or B with air brake endorsement
- excellent communication skills verbal and written
- ability to perform basic mechanical tasks
- able to lift and carry up to 85 lbs and occasionally assist lifting over 100 lbs
- able to squat, kneel, and crawl under 18-inch clearance for extended periods
- minimum 2 years commercial driving experience preferred
- high school diploma or GED preferred
Job Duties
- Operate test vehicle/detector car on railroad tracks and roads
- perform vehicle inspections and equipment set-up
- record and interpret data on computer monitors
- service, maintain, and repair vehicle and detector carriage under the vehicle
- climb steps and ladders and perform ground examinations of rails
- communicate with crew and pilot using verbal, radio, and intercom systems
- adhere to all safety policies and report violations
- follow maintenance procedures and assist field maintenance personnel
- maintain clean and organized detector car
- exercise diplomacy with railroad personnel and document interactions
- assist with data entry into reporting systems
