Job Requirements
- Be 23 years of age or older
- Hold a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle operated
- Must have a current and unrestricted DOT physical card if driving commercial motor vehicle
- Ability to drive safely
- Ability to use navigation tools such as GPS and smartphone apps
- Ability to plan delivery routes
- Ability to maintain basic logs and records
- Able to carry out instructions without constant supervision
- Able to remain professional and courteous
- Must successfully complete all company training including forklift certification
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Ability to push or pull 50-pound loads
- Prolonged periods of sitting
- Ability to use three-point hold when entering trucks or forklifts
- May work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public
- Hold a valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle being operated
- Successful completion of on-the-job training including levels 1 and 2 of positional training
- Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, or maps
- Ability to carry out instructions without constant supervision
- Ability to maintain basic logs and records
- Professional and courteous demeanor
- Must meet driver eligibility guidelines
- Be 23 years of age or older
- Must successfully complete all company training and certification requirements including forklift certification
- Qualified to drive commercial motor vehicles under FMCSR rules with a current DOT physical card as required
Job Duties
- Drive company vehicles to deliver lumber, building materials, hardware, and other building and maintenance supplies to customers' homes, construction sites, or places of business
- Collect payment from customers on COD orders and record customer information according to standard operating procedures
- Verify order details and obtain customer signature on store copy of delivery ticket
- Follow directions or use navigation tools to locate delivery addresses or locations efficiently
- Record all pertinent delivery information as needed for accurate tracking
- Collect and organize required paperwork for delivery and transfer activity
- Treat all customers with courtesy and respect, acting as a customer service liaison and assisting in resolving complaints
- Inform store management or personnel of any customer complaints or requests in a timely manner
- Collect or pick up empty containers, rejected or unsold merchandise from delivery sites as directed
- Load vehicle safely and accurately
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of delivery vehicles
- Perform routine safety checks on vehicles according to company guidelines
- Assist in the yard and warehouse with stocking, loading, and organizing materials
- Assist customers in the yard with loading material and product questions when not driving
- Comply with all company safety standards and all federal, state, and local laws
- Operate a forklift as certified
- Attend all store meetings and training sessions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
