This specific role is for an entry-level Driver Trainee, an essential position focused on training individuals to become skilled drivers of tractor trailers or straight trucks, both intrastate and interstate. The Driver Trainee will gain experience across various routes, including local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight runs. These routes involve the delivery and unloading of various food and food-related products to a diverse customer base. The role is dynamic and highly responsible, requiring adherence to all company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to ensure safe and timely delivery.

The position offers a four-night work week with dispatch hours between 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., providing an excellent work-life balance. Compensation includes a competitive weekly minimum guarantee of $1,450, translating to an estimated annual salary range between $80,000 and $90,000. The role includes significant growth opportunities as drivers perform essential work that supports America's vital food distribution system.

Driver Trainees participate in a comprehensive Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, where they learn key competencies from experienced trainers by riding along and assisting in deliveries. Trainees are responsible for performing all required safety inspections, including pre-trip and post-trip evaluations of the vehicle according to DOT standards, and ensuring that all freight is properly loaded, secured, and documented. Daily responsibilities include delivering products according to schedule, unloading shipments, verifying deliveries, collecting payments if applicable, securing loads, and performing general housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Success in this role depends on a strong commitment to safety, professionalism in communicating with customers and coworkers, and the ability to function effectively as a team member within the organization. The Driver Trainee role is an excellent pathway for individuals seeking to enter the commercial driving profession with a reputable company that values development, safety, and employee well-being.
