Job Qualifications

  • Experience in sales and catering management
  • Strong knowledge of banquet and food and beverage operations
  • Excellent oral, written, and computer skills
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Experience collaborating across multiple hotel departments
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Proven leadership skills with a collaborative approach
  • Knowledge of sales, reservation, and room distribution functions
  • Understanding of business ethics and professional standards

Job Duties

  • Execute sales activities to achieve budgeted goals
  • Assist in the annual budgeting plan
  • Properly analyze business to ensure booking guidelines and parameters for proper function space to guestroom ratio
  • Aggressively build and maintain professional relationships with clients and convention bureau managers
  • Negotiate with clients to maximize revenue and profit while satisfying client needs
  • Communicate effectively with hotel stakeholders to ensure client expectations are met
  • Maintain client dialogue documentation and adhere to trace dates
  • Support and plan special sales activities, promotions, and client events
  • Problem-solve with departments to book business into the hotel
  • Prepare resumes for groups prior to arrival
  • Lead resume review meetings with applicable departments
  • Conduct pre- and post-conference meetings
  • Enlist senior management to interact with prospective clients
  • Enhance the hotel’s community image by active participation in associations and events
  • Stay updated on hotel competition and market strategies
  • Assume ownership of assigned sales territory and respond to market needs
  • Perform responsibilities efficiently following hotel policies
  • Discuss and innovate key service and product differentiators
  • Comply with hotel sales standards and work professionally with co-workers and management
  • Perform tasks that support client schedules and sales revenue such as assisting with telephone volume and site inspections
  • Maintain excellent product knowledge of hotel facilities and competitive hotels
  • Plan and participate in meetings with hotel associates and pre-convention meetings
