Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in sales or related field
  • Minimum five years proven experience in sales within the restaurant or catering industry
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Proficient with customer relationship management (CRM) software
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of food safety protocols and policies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Reside within 30 minutes of a designated market
  • Ability to attend networking events and client meetings regularly

Job Qualifications

  • Five years proven track record in sales in the restaurant industry or a related business, including negotiation and closing process
  • Strong background in new business development
  • Client-focused with excellent customer service
  • Strong computer skills, including Word and Excel
  • Experienced in food safety protocols and policies
  • Treats others with integrity, fairness, and respect
  • Excellent organizational skills to set priorities and meet goals
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to influence in a matrix environment
  • Solid business and financial acumen, including strong analytical skills and aptitude with reports and metrics
  • Experienced with creating proposals and tracking progress on them
  • Polished and professional in demeanor and presence with great attention to detail
  • Talented, passionate, knowledgeable of food service in the restaurant and catering industry
  • Team player who wants to be part of a winning team
  • Successful track record leading cross-functional teams, building relationships, and driving sales effectiveness
  • Ability to solve problems and make changes to accommodate a rapidly changing marketplace
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and to anticipate and support changes
  • Proactive, organized, and handles work under stressful and uncertain conditions
  • Strong knowledge of the local area is essential
  • Must have weekend availability

Job Duties

  • Create a targeted game plan for increasing regional catering sales with corporate and social events within a designated territory
  • Initiate direct sales and business development
  • Focus on revenue-producing activity and maximize selling time by 80 percent dedicated work time on direct sales efforts and local marketing
  • Employ strategic planning, cold calling, sales presentations and meetings, and effective closing sales techniques
  • Work closely with local catering and management teams to stay abreast of clients, trends, and lead opportunities
  • Maintain active involvement in networking events
  • Cultivate relationships with existing clients through follow-up visits and presence at key events
  • Meet established sales goals per quarter
  • Manage and communicate client info and ordering process through the customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Create and utilize an ongoing prospect list to ensure incremental growth
  • Manage existing accounts to ensure ongoing support and repeat catering sales
  • Promptly follow up on all customer calls and requests efficiently and expediently
  • Cultivate a strong understanding of the company’s products and services
  • Manage the catering order process from customer to catering operations manager to the catering joint
  • Ensure order details are clearly communicated to operations producing and managing the event
  • Tend to specialty requests and orders
  • Project the highest level of integrity and professionalism
  • Maintain a service-focused approach, and a caring and sincere attitude at all times
  • Maintain daily, well-documented information in CRM, resulting in superior account service and increased revenues
