Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in catering sales or event management
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Proficient in sales and catering software such as Delphi and Opera
  • Must pass pre-employment screening and background check

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience in catering sales or hospitality sales management
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills

  • Familiarity with hospitality sales and catering event planning software

  • Knowledge of hotel operations and event management

Job Duties

  • Represent the hotel and conduct events with customers by telephone or in-person to solicit catering business
  • Meet and entertain customers, conduct property tours, and promote facilities and services
  • Respond to customer inquiries and negotiate contracts with customers and vendors
  • Assume responsibility for the successful set-up and execution of meetings, meals, and special events
  • Provide direction and supervision of meeting and/or catering logistics to operational departments and staff members
  • Maximize revenue by selling open functions within a 30-day booking window with negotiated food and beverage minimums
  • Develop customer menus, draft contracts and letters, and organize all event arrangements
  • Audit customer checks and department charges for accuracy
  • Ensure contracts, menus, letters, and reports comply with hotel standards and policies
  • Re-book functions and follow up with customers post-event through tracing and booking dates
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of service standards
  • Attend management staff meetings and prepare presentations and discussions
  • Maintain knowledge of departmental equipment maintenance and operating procedures
  • Pursue personal growth development goals
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Observe daily operations to ensure smooth business transactions
  • Assist staff with guest relations or operational issues
  • Ensure coverage of the Catering Sales office to meet client demands
  • Ensure meeting/banquet facilities are clean and presentable
  • Handle walk-ins and inquiries for the hotel.
