Job Requirements

  • College degree preferred
  • 2-3 years experience in catering or related hospitality roles
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service styles
  • Experience with sales and marketing tools
  • Ability to speak confidently to groups
  • Understanding of wines and alcoholic beverages
  • Familiarity with culinary terminology
  • Ability to use catering software such as Delphi and Social Tables
  • Previous guest relations experience
  • Proven sales and prospecting skills
  • Physical ability to carry up to 30 pounds
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with hotel operations and other departments

Job Qualifications

  • College degree preferred
  • 2-3 years experience in a similar role in an upscale hotel
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of various food service styles
  • Familiarity with sales and marketing tools
  • Public speaking skills
  • Understanding of viticulture and wine recommendations
  • Knowledge of alcoholic beverages
  • Familiarity with culinary terms for menus
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Delphi and Social Tables
  • Previous guest relations training and experience
  • Proven aggressive prospecting and selling skills
  • Experience in catering and food service
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities
  • Ability to exert physical effort including transporting up to 30 pounds

Job Duties

  • Meet with clients to discuss function details
  • Solicit new business through outside calls and prospecting
  • Book definite corporate events with potential clients
  • Monitor event performance and seek client feedback
  • Assist the Director of Catering with budgets and forecasts
  • Review daily catering activities including purchases, meetings, appointments, tastings, and site inspections
  • Ensure accurate completion and timely distribution of banquet event orders
  • Arrange food and beverage details for assigned functions
  • Prepare menus and floor plans collaborating with clients and other vendors
  • Coordinate food and beverage preparation, presentation, and service to ensure quality
  • Develop new sales and promotion ideas in conjunction with marketing and catering staff
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Catering Director
  • Assist other hotel departments as needed to support operations
