Job Requirements

  • three years of experience in large catering restaurant or hotel food service operation including one year of catering or banquet experience
  • three years of experience supervising or leading others including assigning evaluating work and handling disciplinary actions

Job Qualifications

  • degree in culinary arts food service management hotel and restaurant administration or related field preferred
  • experience directing employees in complex catered events preferred
  • knowledge of culinary standards safe food handling and liquor laws preferred
  • experience costing menus ordering supplies organizing equipment food and staffing for catered events
  • experience managing a unionized food service staff
  • experience in college or university food service operation

Job Duties

  • act as the initial contact for catering customers providing direction and guidance on catering orders
  • communicate and coordinate with Catering Chef and Catering Operations Manager to meet customer expectations
  • ensure successful execution of multiple daily on-site and off-site catering events
  • follow up with customers post-event to confirm satisfaction and complete timely billing
  • supervise a three-person office support staff making independent decisions on staffing and training
  • manage budget including staff allocation, menu pricing, and purchasing of food and equipment
  • oversee income and costs to maintain catering operations viability
