Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in catering, hotel, country club or restaurant kitchen or front-of-house setting, or equivalent certificate in food preparation
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Physical ability to lift and move objects up to 25 lbs without assistance
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and recipes
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions and recipes
  • At least one year of experience in catering, hotel, country club or restaurant kitchen or front-of-house setting, or a certificate in food preparation from a regionally accredited institution
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Physical ability to lift and move objects up to 25 lbs without assistance and to stand for extended periods or for an entire work shift
  • Ability to safely operate a cargo van for deliveries and equipment transport between campuses with a valid driver’s license and maintain appropriate documentation logs

  • Associate degree in culinary arts, baking or hospitality management from a regionally accredited institution preferred
  • Two to three years of experience in catering setup or kitchen operations preferred
  • Current ServSafe certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Set up and break down of event areas, including arranging tables, chairs, table linens, china, silverware, and glassware according to event plan or as instructed by events coordinator
  • Assist in preparation and coordination of menus for catering of events on all campus locations
  • Ensure all food served is of high quality, properly prepared according to recipe and expedited to all outlets efficiently
  • Transport catering equipment and food to event locations
  • Collaborate with the event coordinator to understand specifics of the event, including guest count, meal courses, and service timing
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety
  • Work night and weekend shifts involving a flexible work schedule to accommodate events
  • Maintain inventory levels of catering supplies, decorations, linens, and service wares
  • Keep workstation clean throughout shift and assist in maintaining a clean and orderly front of house
  • Oversee laundering and maintenance of linens and ensure service equipment is properly maintained, polished, and stored
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive attitude
  • Coordinate with Facilities Management, Information Technology Services, CHARTS, and other departments to provide full service hospitality and post event cleaning
  • Assist the Director in promoting the goals of CAHMI and UA-PTC internally and externally
  • Perform other duties as assigned including restaurant areas, catering storage, loading dock, and exterior of restaurant
